There are so many ways that you can help support Whiskers:

• Make a monetary donation - always urgently needed to pay for vetting, etc. 
• Adopt a kitty.
• Attend our events.
• Support our fundraisers.
• Donate supplies from our wish lists.
• Become a sponsor  - several options available!
• Become a foster. 
• Volunteer your time at the shelter - there are different options depending on your schedule and physical abilities.

Every act of kindness helps our cats in need! 

As a non-profit organization, Whiskers Pet Rescue relies heavily on donations to continue our mission. Your generous contributions help us provide food, medical care, and shelter for our cats. Every dollar makes a difference and goes directly to our care efforts. Consider supporting us in our cause to save lives.

You can help us care for the kitties at Whiskers and in foster by choosing supplies from our Wish Lists! 

You can have supplies shipped to us at 134 Main St South, Southbury, CT 06488 

or you can drop them off at the shelter. There are also links to our Chewy and Amazon wish lists, if you prefer. We also list what types of bedding we need.

There are usually cleaning teams at the shelter between 9-11AM to answer the door. Our business hours are Wednesday - Sunday 1-4pm. We also have a metal can outside where you can leave items when we are closed.

*If you have food that is not on our lists, we will still accept it. Whatever we cannot use at the shelter goes to the local food bank or to feed community cats.

Our amazing volunteers are the heart of Whiskers Pet Rescue. They spend their free time cleaning, cuddling, and caring for our cats and kittens — making every day brighter for them. If you love cats and want to make a difference, we’d love for you to join our Whiskers volunteer family! 

 Our Foster Program is truly life-changing — for the cats and the people who help them. By opening your heart and home, you give rescued cats and kittens the love and safety they need until they’re ready for adoption. Every foster family makes a difference, and we’d love for you to be part of that lifesaving journey. 

Here are five possibilities you may want to consider:

• Bequest By Will 

Giving a bequest through your will is an easy and direct way to leave a legacy. You can state a certain dollar amount or choose to specify a percentage of your estate. At your death, a charitable deduction will be available to your estate in calculating estate tax due.

• Gift Of Cash Or Securities

An outright gift of cash or securities is the simplest way of making a gift to Whiskers Pet Rescue.

• Life Insurance Policies

If you have life insurance that you no longer need to protect you or your family, you may gift the policy to Whiskers Pet Rescue.

• Retirement Plan Assets

You may acquire particular tax advantages by naming Whiskers Pet Rescue a primary or contingent beneficiary on all or a portion of your RPA accounts.

• Charitable Trusts

Your assets can provide a steady stream of payments to you, with the trust assets transferred to Whiskers Pet Rescue at your death or at any earlier time you specify. These trusts can provide an immediate income tax deduction.

Our Senior-to-Senior Forever Foster Program pairs senior cats (12+ years old) with senior citizens (65+). Adoption fees are waived, and Whiskers provides food, litter, and medical care — while our wonderful human seniors provide the love! ❤

This program is a beautiful option for seniors on a fixed income:

• A senior cat enjoys a loving home instead of a cage.
• A senior human gains a devoted feline companion at no cost.
  It’s truly a win-win!

We’re very proud of this program, which currently supports around 70 cats in loving forever foster homes.

By sponsoring a senior kitty, you help cover medical care, medications, food, and litter for these deserving cats. With about 75 senior cats currently in the program, we urgently need your help to continue this wonderful mission — connecting senior humans with senior felines who might otherwise spend their golden years in a shelter.

When you sponsor a cage, you aren't sponsoring just one cat or kitten. You are helping the many cats and kittens that stay in your cage awaiting their adoption throughout the year! 

* Sponsoring a cage makes a great gift or memorial on behalf of someone that is passionate about animals!

WE HAVE 3 LEVELS OF CAGE SPONSORSHIPS:
SINGLE - A one-time donation of $225 for a year: Sponsors one of our single cages which may house a single cat or a couple of kittens throughout the year.

DOUBLE - A one-time donation of $275  for a year: Sponsors one of our double cages which may house many single or pairs of cats or multiple kittens throughout the  year.
TRI-LEVEL - A one-time donation of $325 for a year: Sponsors one of our tri-level cages which may house many pairs of cats or multiple kittens throughout the year.

Note: Cages for each level are limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first served basis. If we run out of the level that you have requested, we will contact you.

Whiskers Cat Rescue offers cage-free rooms for cats that are stressed or need socialization to become more easily adoptable. Our special 'Cuddler' volunteers work one-on-one with these cats and kittens to comfort and socialize them. You can also make a difference in cat adoption by sponsoring one of these rooms, helping to support the kitties staying in 'your' room at Whiskers Southbury.
